According to current market estimates, the use of QR codes is expected to reach around 5.3 billion by 2025. So creating a WordPress QR code for your website is probably a good idea.

Today, I will show you how you can easily create a QR code for your WordPress website.

What is a QR Code?

A QR code, an abbreviation for Quick Response Code, is a trademarked version of a matrix barcode (also referred to as a two-dimensional barcode) that was initially developed in 1994 for the automotive sector in Japan.

A barcode represents a machine-readable optical label that encodes information pertaining to the item with which it is associated. In practice, QR codes typically contain data serving as a locator, identifier, or tracker that directs users to a specific website or application.

A QR code employs four standardized encoding modes (numeric, alphanumeric, byte/binary, and kanji) to efficiently store data. While other extensions exist, these four represent the primary formats utilized.

A QR code comprises black squares arranged in a square grid upon a white background, which can be interpreted by an imaging device such as a camera. This information is processed using Reed–Solomon error correction until the image can be adequately interpreted.

The necessary data is subsequently extracted from patterns present in both the horizontal and vertical components of the image.
